A good friend of mine mentioned that Pacific Beach has recently begun to resemble Las Vegas. And this might just be a hard point to refute with all the new restaurants preaching modern vibes, sprouting up from the concrete along Garnet Avenue and Mission Boulevard.
Nostalgic mellow summer memories aside, this is not necessarily a bad thing. A few remodels and renovations of some very old (and very gross) beach-side venues is not the worst thing that could happen to a community like Pacific Beach.
Pacific Beach Ale House is one of the many places that recently underwent a complete makeover. And as of late, it doesn't seem that too many residents or visitors of the PB area are complaining. Try to take on this place during a Friday or Saturday night and you may have a bit of trouble just making it through the door.
What was once Taylor's, a venue I had only entered on few occasions when I felt I had already exhausted the more notable bars in Pacific Beach, has now become a more upscale restaurant and bar. Yet, despite the new and improved look, Pacific Beach Ale House has managed to retain the casual vibe of the beach. Patrons can enjoy view of PB from all angles, whether from the rooftop bar that offers views of the Pacific and Crystal Pier, or along the street, where guests can enjoy a cold beer freshly brewed by the Ale House and take in the sights of PB's ever-colorful foot traffic, and I'm not just talking about the tourists.
Insider Tip: Though you'll probably visit for the booze, don't hesitate to take the menu for a test run. The burgers are juicy and the lobster BLT (for you daring seafood lovers out there) is absolutely amazing.
