SWAY Lounge, the newest and most exclusive night spot in San Diego, announces its official grand opening just in time for summer.

The grand opening celebration will feature an appearance by Doug Reinhardt of “The Hills,” who may be most famous as Paris Hilton’s boyfriend. Reinhardt recently received international attention when he was punched in the nose by a DJ’s bodyguard who dared push his lady fair.

No word on whether Paris will join her chivalrous boyfriend at SWAY Lounge, but she is fond of San Diego, so you never know...

Located at The Keating Hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter, SWAY Lounge is a club/lounge that truly suits the needs of the evolving market. The new club, which replaces Minus 1 in the space, has been described as “a 21st century speakeasy,” thanks to its deep red lighting, rich leather booths and candelabra-lit tables.

Among the highball highlights at SWAY include a champagne bar sponsored in part by Moet & Hennessey, and a guarantee that all the well drinks are premium liquors like Johnny Walker.

Club creator James M. Kaen, Director of Business Development & Entertainment of The Keating Hotel Group, is confident his club will sway even fickle fans of the San Diego nightlife. That’s why he chose to call it SWAY Lounge.

“The name is dynamic, sexy, and rolls off the tongue easily. It evokes a bit of curiosity,” Kaen says. “SWAY comes from influence. Influence is the most powerful thing. Sway people and you have all the control.”

But Kaen also sees another meaning to the word “SWAY” that is just as fitting considering what people tend to do in bars, clubs and lounges.

“Some people hear sway, and think ‘side-to-side,’ which can mean two things: being drunk, which you are doing at a bar, or dancing, which you are also doing at a bar,” he says.
