Party Upgrade: New Dance Floor at Float

Hard Rock Hotel is one of the most dynamic nightlife destinations in all of downtown San Diego. Whether you’re looking for a starlit lounge or high-energy club, Hard Rock offers a distinct two-in-one nightlife draw, providing the perfect setting for all nocturnal fantasies.

Everyone knows that you opt for street level Club 207 if you want to dance, star-watch and mingle amid the dim nightclub. For a more relaxing lounge, guests head up to Float on the fourth floor to chill under the stars at a VIP fire pit booth and gaze out at stunning skyline views. Hard Rock offers the best of both worlds all in one swanky hotel setting. But now, the dynamic appeal is getting even better as Float launches an all new party component this fall season.

Have you ever wished you could enjoy 207’s signature dance floor underneath the stars in Float’s luxury setting? Well, now you can! Hard Rock will unveil Float’s new dance floor mid-October, and we can’t wait to try it out! It looks like it's going to be a hot winter in the San Diego nightlife scene. To get the Insider scoop on what we can expect to see, we sat down with Andy Hersch of Gramercy Management Group – AKA the man who runs the nightlife game at Hard Rock Hotel San Diego.

DiscoverSD: We hear there is a hot new addition to Float this fall. What can we expect to see?
Andy Hersch: Float is the most captivating outdoor space in downtown and we are excited to make it even more enticing this fall.   We have enhanced the space with the addition of a state-of-the-art sound system, full dance lighting rig and a new deejay booth which creates a brand new dance floor area.   We are taking what is already an incredible space and making it even more exciting for our guests.

DSD: When is the new party addition expected to be complete? Will there be a big celebratory bash?
Andy: The project is slated for completion in mid-October.

DSD: Why did you decide to do this? How will it change the nightlife atmosphere at Float?
Andy: Some of our guests enjoy the unique lounge atmosphere at Float, with its panoramic views of downtown, comfortable couches and inviting fire pits.  We wanted to provide our guests with the opportunity to enjoy a dance floor either upstairs or at our street-level 207 nightclub, depending on their mood.  Now they’ll be able kick up their feet at a fire pit under the stars or enjoy a high-energy, dance area with the same world-class deejays that have made 207 famous.

DSD: What else is new at Float and 207 at Hard Rock Hotel this fall / winter?
Andy: Right now it is all about the Halloween week.  Halloween is one of the top three biggest nights of celebration all year and at Hard Rock, we have been known to throw the city’s most spectacular party. Since we are always trying to top ourselves, this year we are throwing four distinct events from Thursday thru Sunday. The celebration launches Thursday, October 28th with a live performance by hip hop stars Cali Swag District who will teach our guests “how to Dougie.” Our Friday party is hosted by Joe Manganiello, who plays Alcide, television’s sexiest werewolf on the hit series “True Blood”. Saturday brings the second annual Halloween takeover of the entire Hard Rock Hotel with 10 deejays performing in five separate venues on three floors. Tickets and table reservations are available at hardrockhalloween.com. Finally, on Sunday, the official Halloween night, we will have a live performance by a soon to be announced special guest. This party is not to be missed.
