In honor of April Jazz Appreciation Month, our Insider radar is on Anthology– the swanky multi-level supper club in Little Italy. From the design to acoustics and cuisine, Anthology has been pleasing local senses since the 2007 launch. If you’ve yet to discover Anthology, your time is now.
It’s the perfect time to scat over to Anthology and enjoy the array of renowned Jazz musicians performing live all month long. Some of the noteworthy jazz acts playing this month include:
Kristin Korb, a renowned jazz bassist and vocalist who will release new record, “In The Meantime,” on Wednesday, April 8.
Leon Redbone, who has helped introduce many early jazz classics like “Ain’t Misbehavin’” to modern audiences since the '70s, will perform the 7:30 shows on April 10 and 11. (pictured)
Delsoniq, a funk/ jazz ensemble with Slightly Stoopid members, will funk out the show on April 11.
The Anthology House Band, an ensemble featuring some of San Diego’s finest musicians, brings beautiful music and classic standards on April 14 and 21.
Brian Auger fuses jazz and rock on April 16.
Sax great Tom Scott will be performing with Paulette McWilliams and Gilbert Castellanos on April 17.
Anthology’s Artist-in-residence Charles McPherson also shares the stage with Gilbert Castellanos on April 22.
Local boy Michael Franks, a giant in contemporary jazz and Brazilian-influenced music, will come back home April 24-25.
Traditional jazz artist Tierney Sutton plays April 28.
