Stingaree Unveils New Rooftop Design and Ritual Thursdays

Stingaree has been San Diego’s reigning nocturnal hotspot for what seems like an eternity, and now the swanky super-club is undergoing its first major redesign, inviting local party-goers to embrace the way of Buddha and indulge in a all new rooftop Ritual.

Since 2005 Stingaree has been the go-to San Diego nightclub for in-the-know locals and such celebrity guests as Carmen Electra, John Legend, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Kate Hudson, Black Eyed Peas and Pamela Anderson, just to name a few.

The posh three-story palace of luxurious entertainment offers a chic street level restaurant and lounge where vibrant orange bar stools sit before a white and blue striped wall, gazing up to the mysterious and exclusive Mezzanine. Ascend the staircase to reach a central second-floor landing pad pierced by a gorgeous waterfall. Floating above the dance floor, a bridge takes you to the 2,500 sq. ft. Mezzanine Lounge. The highlight of the second level is the baby blue and sterling Penthouse, the ultimate in private exclusivity.

From the Mezz, guests further elevate to the starlit rooftop lounge. Though the rooftop was once defined by fire pit cabanas, Stingaree now introduces a brand new scene just in time for summer.

Stingaree’s transformative rooftop redesign was lead by the club’s original designer, Davis Krumins of Davis Ink Ltd.

The all new rooftop greets guests with two16-foot tall, antique Buddha statues. The elevated VIP cabanas now sit on a raised six-inch wood platform and are now seen through shades of blue, green and cream, with hand-painted images adding a playful juxtaposition to the cabana’s earthy hues. Rooftop VIP vision is granted by stratus shaped Thai woven bamboo lighting pendants and hand strung Capiz shell chandeliers.

The main bar’s signature blue tiling is now visually enhanced with staggered wood stick chandeliers. The internationally hued luminosity mixed with rustic textures and blended natural elements re-introduces the Stingaree rooftop in a whole new local light.

Owner James Brennan explains the redesign vision: “Stingaree has been at the forefront of nightlife, both locally and nationally, since opening almost five years ago and constantly reinventing ourselves has been the driving force and key to our long-standing success,” said Brennan. “With our first remodel we look forward to not only giving our guests a premier nightclub experience for years to come but also offering them a newly designed rooftop to enjoy San Diego’s summer nights.”

The elevated VIP cabanas now sit on a raised six-inch wood platform and are now seen through hand-painted shades of blue, green and cream. And that is just the beginning. With Buddha watching over the eternally enhanced rooftop scene, Stingaree launches Ritual – a new Thursday night party series – on Thursday, May 27. RSVP now to get on the guest list.
