This hot
new Hillcrest
joint has lots in common with its ancestor, Hamburger Mary’s. Kick-ass
Margaritas in brilliant shades of blue, juicy burgers, and fabulous vibes have
been passed down from Mary to Mo, making Urban Mo’s Bar and Grill a welcome—and
not too drastic—change.
The open-air
patio, cozy cabana booths, funky décor, and fruity dishes like Mango Salsa
Swordfish and Chipotle Raspberry Chicken Breast mean Mo’s is tropi-cool enough
to be a San Diego
hit. Although Mary’s kitschy decor will be missed, many customers appreciate
the slightly more grown-up atmosphere that Mo’s has to offer.
If meat’s
your thing and Mary’s burgers were your preferred poison, you’ve got nothing to
worry about—Mo’s has not strayed too far from the former hit-makers. The new
menu features a build-your-own-burger section, with choices like pineapple,
grilled red peppers, guacamole and chili. So if you’re in the mood for buns,
booze and dancing, visit Mo’s between 2 and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, when
cheap well drinks are flying off the shelves and half plates of Mo’s tasty apps
go for $3 bucks a pop.
