There are many communities in San Diego that have benefited from the recent San Diego real estate boom. One of those neighborhoods happens to be our northernmost coastal community of Oceanside. One of the reasons why Oceanside was most affected is that this San Diego community had a lot of catching up to do.

So while Oceanside builders, investors, and agents are yelling "Are we there yet?" SD Malkin Properties mapped the emerging real estate destination. Where other real estate professionals failed in the past by not getting along with the locals, the Oceanside pros excelled. Oceanside's dream of a resort located at Pacific Street and Mission Avenue looks like it will finally come to fruition, with a completion date set for 2nd quarter of 2009.

Will a 302 room, $187 million high-end resort hotel and timeshares transform the San Diego community of Oceanside? With this upgrade bring Oceanside real estate up to snuff with her sister city of Carlsbad? Well, none of us really know. We do know this is just what the city of Oceanside ordered. They're behind the project enough to reach in their back pocket and write a check for $27 million dollars. Of course, these funds are expected back in dividends with the collection of property, hotel, and redevelopment tax after the real estate project has been completed.

I think most of us are excited about the Oceanside of tomorrow. On a positive note, it seems the city is heading in the right direction. Just think: Oceanside now has all the cultural requirements to be the premiere city of North County. With beautiful wide beaches, the longest wooden pier on the West Coast, and a convenient proximity to Orange County; Oceanside has all of the ingredients to one day be the flagship city of North County, San Diego.
