Tucked away in a secluded section of Kearny Mesa, the 94th Aerosquadron is a charming San Diego restaurant that offers diners a unique steakhouse experience.
The restaurant itself a replica of a World War I French farmhouse and is adorned with military and aviation memorabilia and relics as well as antique farm implements. Combine the authentic décor with an upscale, fine-dining menu, and you have one of San Diego's best kept dining secrets.
Among the menu's tantalizing appetizers are the Crab Stuffed Mushrooms, Potato Skins, and Fried Escargot in Mushroom Caps. Entrees ranging in price from $13.50-$31.95 include Shrimp and Scallops with Penne, prepared with fresh tomatoes and garlic, Stuffed Pork Tenderloin with wild mushrooms, almonds, and sun-dried figs, Australian Lobster Tail served with drawn butter and lemon, and an impressive selection of steaks and prime rib, and lamb.
Make sure to check out the happy hour either in the lounge or on the patio Monday through Friday from 3:30-6:30pm with special drink prices and a free appetizer buffet. Early Flight Dinners are also served daily until 6:30pm (except holidays) and include Chicken Breast Teriyaki, Pasta and Vegetables, and selected Fresh Fish.
Perched just over Montgomery Field, 94th Aerosquadron offers guests up close and personal views of the planes as they arrive and depart. Some tables even have headphones that allow San Diego diners to eavesdrop on the nearby control tower.
