Intimate Nook Dining at Harney Sushi

The one thing that continues to transcend cultures is eating together. Meal time has long been a communal interaction to share with the ones you love, and an opportunity to meet new friends. Restaurants become our home to invite acquaintances and leave as kindred spirits, as food connects us in inexplicable ways.

This custom of using a meal as a means of embracing others, old and new, is part of Harney Sushi’s master plan in bringing strangers together. Their new Nook Dining Experience invites 6 guests to share the lavish nook lounge in Harney’s Old Town location for a night of conversation and complexly created food.

Once settled inside the nook’s close quarters, Chef Anthony Sinsay treats the lucky 6 to a dining experience that begs both intimacy and mingling to take place on the first Tuesday of every month. This experiment in social dining is not just a creative idea to cozy up in the booth, but a chance for Chef Sinsay to test out his refreshing cooking techniques that defy tradition. Chef Sinsay imagines the Nook as “a fun concept that will allow both foodies and inexperienced diners to enjoy a variety of flavors and textures in one sitting. Not only will guests enjoy the food, it will also be a fun way for them to connect with other Harney fans in a social setting.”

If you’re anything like me and not so into this whole “sharing” concept, not to worry. There’s more than enough food for everyone as Chef Sinsay rolls out not one, not two, but seven courses, along with 3 cocktail and wine pairings. It’s impressive to say the least; a seven-course meal all using different techniques and unparalleled skills in the seafood making industry, that only Nook Dining guests will be served.

Harney Sushi’s location in Old Town has garnered attention over the years as a fish out of water in the midst of Mexican restaurants, and so has their private booth within the location, with a plush and ornate characterization. As long as guests book in even numbers, the experience inside the highly-desired nook can be shared with others. With captivating dishes, hard-core foodies and rookies will be brought together at the table, leaving with a full stomach and a handful of new friends. The menu features a wide span from Chef Sinsay’s imagination, including uni, foie gras, and salmon roe. To drink, guests can enjoy a sweet tea and vodka cocktail, a Guinness float made in reverse, and a strawberry daiquiri made with cherry rum.

The Nook Dining experience costs $95 and meals typically last for 2-3 hours. For reservations and more information, visit Harney Sushi Old Town.
