Sunday Night Chef Fights in San Diego

Posted On : 5/23/2011 by Kseniya Bublikova

Let the battle begin! The latest fight craze has nothing to do with mixed martial arts or boxing. Instead, two top contestants will be battling it out in the kitchen, as Sunday Night Chef Fights takes southern California by storm. If you love watching “Top Chef” contestants fighting for the top spot, then this is the event for you.

On June 5, Chef Kurtis Habecker, the Chef de Cuisine of Argyle Steakhouse, will be defending his current title against new competitor Chef Eugenio Martignago, the Executive Corporate Chef at West Steak and Seafood. The two San Diego chefs will go head-to-head in an intense culinary competition.

Not only does the audience get to witness two masters at work, but they will also act as a panel of judges. The chefs will be given three main ingredients: a meat, starch, and vegetable, along with an added mystery ingredient. The chefs will have a week to buy all necessary ingredients, create a brilliant plan, and set up preparations.

On the day of the event, the culinary masters will have a mere 30 minutes to prepare enough of their delicious dish to serve the entire audience. Following two tastings, the audience decides which meal takes the cake based on three categories: appearance, creativity, and taste. The winner of the fight will be declared at the end of the night and will have another opportunity to defend his title in a later fight.

The Sunday Night Chef Fight takes place Sunday, June 5 at 6pm in the Standards of Excellence Showroom, located at 694 Ranchero Drive in San Marcos. General tickets to the event cost $50 and include seating, guaranteed tasting of both chef’s masterpieces, and three wine pours. VIP tickets include front-row seating, larger food portions, along with six wine pours, and are available for $75. Please visit cheffights.com to purchase tickets.

You got what it takes? For the San Diego chefs among us who think they have what it takes to be top dog, email info@SundayNightChefFights to sign-up for a chance to compete.
