Brought to you by the creators of the popular chain Daphne's Greek Café, EXY Chic Greek Restaurant and Lounge opened December 17 in the former LG's Steakhouse site at 6th and F on the outskirts of the Gaslamp District.
Offering premium cocktails with a full bar and impressive wine collection, the restaurant and lounge will serve high-end Greek cuisine to a section of downtown that has long been overwhelmed by steakhouses and homegrown Italian cooking.
Translating literally as the Greek word for "six," EXY sits across the street from the Ivy Hotel, offering a sophisticated yet informal Greek restaurant and lounge. The southern half of the ground floor is dedicated to a smooth, minimalist décor; the hanging lights and tulle window coverings give for a very mellow, spacious feeling. On the northern side, a more traditional and formal restaurant seating area resides, although it doesn't lose its class.
The menu at EXY includes dishes like the Cretan Bread Salad, a mixture of feta, croutons, baby greens, sweet onions, basil, and tomatoes, or the Grilled Octopus, resting on a bed of arugula and red onion salad. For a classic Greek favorite, try EXY's spin on moussaka, the Moussaka Ravioli filled with lamb and vegetables.
Keep an eye out for select opening events and happy hour specials throughout December - as EXY wraps up their VIP preview parties, they're sure to start pulling in the crowds.
