Rockstar: Build Your Own Creations at Maryjane’s

Posted On : 4/18/2011 by Ryan Eisenacher

The Hard Rock Hotel’s famed Maryjane’s coolly defines the signature rock star style. From the retro-modern décor and stunning circular bar, to the flashy celebrity portraits adorning the walls, Maryjane’s has transformed the classic American diner into a fresh, eclectic eatery that appeals to both upscale and casual San Diego senses.

Maintaining the idea that all guests should be treated like rock stars, Maryjane’s new Executive Chef Emiliano Sotelo has introduced a modernized menu that allows each guest to submit  build their own burger or breakfast orders, created from a list of dozens of cheeses, sauces, additions and fixins. Haaaay! Jagger ain’t got nothin’ on this.

“Rock stars are used to getting what they want, when they want it.  And often times what they want isn’t listed on the menu,” said Chef Sotelo.  “The new additions to the menu give our guests the power to order like rock stars, customizing their meal to match their personal preferences, or their latest whim.”

The centerpiece of the new Maryjane’s menu is the “Build Your Own Burger” section. The first step is choosing your meat – a half-pound Angus Beef Patty, Grilled Chicken Breast or a hearty Veggie Patty. Next stop: Holy Cheesy Heaven. With nine supremely delicious choices to choose from including Aged Wisconsin Cheddar, Swiss, Maytag Blue, Fresh Mozzarella, Fontina, Sonoma Goat Cheese, TJ Pepper Jack, Provolone and American, it’s more than safe to say you’ll have a difficult time making one selection for your burger. Once you have your cheese and meat picked, get saucy and slather your burger with one (or two, or three!) of thirteen chichi sauces including Chipotle Aioli, Sun-dried Tomato Ketchup, Roasted Poblano Pepper Salsa, Pesto, Caesar, Thousand +1 Island, Roasted Garlic & Fresh Herb Spread, Brokeback Ranch, Honey mustard, Atomic Horseradish, Hot Buffalo Sauce, Hickory Smoked BBQ, or Peanut Butter. Finally, top off your meaty, cheesy, saucy delight with gourmet toppings such as Canadian Bacon, Refried Beans, Guacamole, Onion Rings, Black Bean Hummus, Olive and Tomato Tapenade, or a Fried Egg. All burgers are served up sizzling hot with a side of coleslaw or cripsy fries. Hot damn, that is a mouthful! Hey Utah, gimme two!

Even though rock stars rarely rise before noon, the customizable offerings are not limited to lunch and dinner.  Maryjane’s has also released a “Build Your Own Breakfast” menu which includes Control Freak Flapjacks and Control Freak French Toast.  Guests can choose fixins to enhance their hotcakes such as Fresh Berries, Chocolate Chips and Pecans, Toasted Coconut, Chocolate Sauce and Spiced Banana Caramel Vanilla Rum Sauce. For the indecisive minds, the all-new Bananarama’s Foster French Toast made with spiced bananas, caramel vanilla rum sauce, Brioche French toast slices, whipped cream and powdered sugar, is a surefire selection.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner Sunday through Thursday from 6:30am to 10pm and Friday and Saturday from 6:30am to 3am, Maryjane's features a fun style and fresh attitude. For more details, call 619.764.6497 or visit Maryjane’s at Hard Rock Hotel.
