Croce's Restaurant and Bar: A Tradition in Gaslamp Dining

Published : 3/17/2008 by Dan Tricarico

Quite simply, Croce's Restaurant and Jazz Bar has been a famed San Diego dining institution for nearly a quarter century.

Conceived as a tribute to Ingrid Croce's late singer/songwriter husband, Jim, this Gaslamp Quarter landmark is on the corner of 5th Avenue and F Street, and offers both contemporary American cuisine and live music nightly. Restaurateur Ingrid Croce and Executive Chef James Clark bring you a variety of selections for both breakfast and lunch, as well as a captivating dinner menu.

Consider starting your day with the tantalizing Tahitian Vanilla French Toast with fresh strawberries and walnuts, or the Smoked Salmon and Scallion Scramble, or possibly Croce's Supreme Breakfast Croissant. Settle in for lunch by sampling any one of the tasty burgers or sandwiches, such as the Leroy Brown Burger (char-grilled with Monterey Jack cheese), the Meatball sandwich, or the Southwest Turkey Club. For lighter fare, opt for a traditional Cobb or Caesar salad.

Dinner at Croce's is a Gaslamp tradition, and includes a variety Pastas and Risotto selections, such as the Shrimp Carbonara Fettucini with Italian Pancetta or the Double Chicken Lasagna. Seafood selections include Sesame Seared Sashimi Ahi with black Thai rice, Seared Scallops with a Lobster-scented risotto with asparagus, and the New Zealand Sea Bass with pomegranate glaze. Exciting chicken, pork, and beef options nicely round out the possibilities. Entrees range in price from $20-35. After your meal, remember to enjoy one of the concerts by the talented musicians who play nightly in the adjacent jazz bar. And while Croce's doesn't take reservations, you can call ahead for priority seating.

Croce's Restaurant and Jazz Bar is a "must see" for nightly entertainment and an unforgettable dining experience in the heart of San Diego's revitalized Gaslamp Quarter.
