Published : 8/5/2008 by Melissa Paniaguas

With the intent to shop until they drop, serious spenders know they need some substance to continue swiping their Visas.

Forget about the giant soft pretzels and mini samples of toothpick-stabbed Bourbon chicken; mall cuisine is finally in style. From Fashion Valley to UTC La Jolla and Horton Plaza, discover the top ten San Diego restaurants at our favorite local malls.

Bing Crosby's Restaurant and Piano Bar
Straight out of the 1930s, Bing Crosby's Restaurant and Piano Bar opening in Fashion Valley late 2008 will be sure to attract the classy and nostalgic. From swing music to martinis, this will be the new Mission Valley dining hot spot where anything goes. (pictured)

Napa Valley Grill
On top of Horton Plaza, Napa Valley Grill gives patrons extraordinary panoramic views of the Gaslamp Quarter, while serving customers gourmet masterpieces like the Roasted Pear and Fig Salad and Organic Chinook Salmon.

Beach City Market
The grind of 9 to 5 has many workers running to the bars: Beach City Market's sushi, juice, coffee and salad bars. Tucked away on the bottom level of Horton Plaza, Beach City Market is perfect spot for those on the go, from weekend breakfast to mid-week dinner.

59th and Lex Café
Bringing New York to San Diego, 59th and Lex Café in Fashion Valley's Bloomingdales department store offers the same striking contrast in décor. With a black-and-white motif, hungry shoppers can enjoy soup and salad or a plate of pasta, surrounded by couture designs.

The Cheesecake Factory
For the calorie counters, The Cheesecake Factory in Fashion Valley Mall no longer is a guilty pleasure. This fan favorite restaurant gave its menu a makeover, now offering six salads under 590 calories each. But don't worry, the cheesecake and mile-high burgers are always there when you need them.

Cozymel's Mexican Grill
Meeting for margaritas is the perfect way to end a long day of shopping at the La Jolla University Towne Center mall. The restaurant's Aztec architecture and authentic cuisine whisks you across the border, without the drive. Make sure to check out Cozymel's for mid-week happy hour.

Seau's The Restaurant
Combining sports with sustenance, Seau's The Restaurant is the Mission Valley go-to venue for guys to catch the game while their girlfriends exercise their American Express cards at the nearby Westfield Mission Valley mall.

The Zodiac
Mission Valley's The Zodiac, located in Neiman Marcus at Fashion Valley Mall, is a gorgeous gourmet getaway. Guests indulge in the restaurant's renowned Mandarin Orange Soufflé while catching up with the latest Vogue.

Gordon Biersch
With the cozy warmth of a ski lounge, Gordon Biersch in Mission Valley is a great place to grab a beer and a wood-fired steak, within walking distance from the Westfield Mission Valley mall maze and nearby Qualcomm Stadium.

Nordstrom Café
The perfect solution for an upscale lunch break, Nordstrom Café in University Towne Center La Jolla is a cafeteria-style bistro with plenty of fresh baked pastries, homemade soups and hot-off-the-grill paninis and gourmet salads.
