Discover Ranchos Cocina in North Park

Posted On : 1/19/2008 by Meg Day

Rancho's Cocina in North Park has it all: fantastic food for carnivores, vegetarians and vegans alike, adorably kitschy Mexican décor, and an inviting atmosphere hidden away from the bustle of North Park's 30th and University.

Think your craving can't be met? Check out Rancho's extensive menu of everything form grilled salmon or shrimp burritos to the veggie-friendly and utterly delectable soy chorizo. Reasonably priced, the restaurant is tucked away from the street behind a patio area full of hanging plants. The foliage cuts down on street noise and makes the transition from curb to chair resemble timetravel. Pack your party into the cozy-but-crowded dining area and enjoy fantastic tag-team service; expect a variety of the waitstaff to check in on you, always with a chipper, upbeat smile.

Try out their corn and avocado enchiladas, the lentil and rice burrito, or the tofu fajitas. They've literally got everything - specialty tacos, quesadillas, chimichangas, you name it. Opt for brown rice or a wheat tortilla for a healthier fit, pop on some fantastic homemade guacamole or their signature white sauce, and you're good to go.

Be wary of the weekend rush, though. Weeknight meals require little to no wait - weekends can keep you standing for a table for up to half an hour. With the best vegetarian carne asada in town, however, it's definitely worth your time. Think otherwise? Order to go and enjoy the overwhelming amounts of phenomenal salsa they send home with you.
