At the very least, your go-to Asian-fusion sushi spot should have soy sauce, chopsticks and a fork option for those of us who still can’t get it right. At the very most, they should have an extensive list of sharable tapas, indulgent entrees, decadent desserts and tantalizing cocktails, a la Roppongi Restaurant and Sushi Bar. In continuation with their constant flavor growth, Roppongi has announced the addition of the revered Sunday brunch.
Executive Chef Stephen Window has crafted up a sweet and savory brunch menu served from 10am to 3pm at this La Jolla hotspot, all priced at $14 or less. If you roll into Sunday with a severe sugar craving, order up the Banana Macadamia Nut Pancakes with peanut butter and coconut syrup or a Fresh Berry & Yogurt Parfait with homemade granola, five spice and orange.
Or, if you wake up with seafood, eggs and a smattering of spicy flavors on the brain, feast on the Maine Lobster Buttermilk Scramble with roasted fingerling potatoes, bell peppers and chives; Duck Confit Hash with bell pepper, pepper jack cheese and scrambled egg; or the Roppongi Crab Cake Benedict with Thai basil hollandaise, grilled asparagus and shichimi spice.
Guests can wash it all down with bottomless mimosa, bloody marys or fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit juice. Dine throughout the restaurant or take brunch outdoors on the covered patio.
This year, we’ve seen Roppongi take a serious approach to seafood, focusing on locally-sourced ingredients in dishes imagined by Executive Chef Stephen Window. He whips up Asian-fusion cuisine based on his British roots, French techniques and worldly experiences. Since 1998, he’s been focused on taking seafood to the next level with a diverse span of flavors and exotic dishes at Roppongi, like the Polynesian Crab Stack.
In addition to the new Sunday brunch, Roppongi is open daily for both lunch and dinner. Their happy hour takes on the 3pm to 6pm crowd with half-priced tapas and $8 specialty drinks. Roppongi is located on 875 Prospect Street in La Jolla. For more information, visit roppongiusa.com.
