Get Sconed at Rebecca’s

Posted On : 6/8/2007 by Jessica Nager

The theory that independent coffeehouses have to be quiet and small is immediately disproved the moment you enter bustling and vibrant Rebecca’s. Located on the corner of 30th and Juniper in the southern part of North Park, Rebecca’s is the café of choice for locals, who come in droves for the relaxed atmosphere, open mic nights, and, of course, the scones. The bottom line: you haven’t had a scone until you’ve had a scone from Rebecca’s.

Check your Atkins’ diet at the door and indulge in some good, hearty comfort food. Take your pick from any of the freshly baked scones, served up warm from kitchen right behind the counter, or any of the other classic coffee shop delights.

Cozy up on any of the many couches scattered around the voluminous café to chat with a friend, read the morning paper, or play a game of chess on one of the boards floating around the café. Plan your visit with a little extra care, and your visit may coincide with an up-and-coming musical guest, like the Annual LA Music Awards-nominated Best Pop Female Singer/Songwriter Tracy Johnson.

A Great Starbucks Alternative

I've been on the hunt for more cozy places to hang out and drink coffee. Another great place is The Living Room in La Jolla.
