Iconic Restaurant Jacks La Jolla Closes Doors for Good

Published : 7/31/2009 by Michelle Guerin

An iconic restaurant and night club in San Diego – Jack’s La Jolla – has officially shut its doors after more than four years of successful business and positive reputation in the downtown La Jolla area.

Remembering Jack: The labyrinthine restaurant of endless nooks and graceful levels was also one of the community’s favorite locations to spend a lively evening. The Beach Bar was known to showcase steel drum music to energize the merrymaking. The mid-level Wall Street Bar also featured live music by night in a fine-dining environment. The Wine Bar Lounge at Jack’s Grille, though soothingly furnished with cool-toned tile and a radiant central fireplace, was animated each night with live entertainment in its piano bar. Discover the swanky scene with Jack’s La Jolla party pics.

Despite the seemingly destined-for-success 17,000-sq.-ft. , three-level venue known for upscale nightlife and consistent fine dining, Jack’s La Jolla became victim to the down economy and, in conjunction with other internal issues, was forced to end its short but thrilling run in downtown La Jolla. Owner Bill Berkley released the news of closing to 120 employees and local media outlets on Thursday, July 30, 2009.

We are sad to hear of the Jack’s La Jolla closing – this three-story epicenter of fine dining and fun will be truly missed in the San Diego scene. Remember Jack’s with these party pics.

Sad

Times are tough and it is too bad Jacks had to close. In the La Jolla area I'd recomend partying at Aloha Sushi. It's a hidden gem and offers great food, even better service and an amazing atmosphere. On August 13th they plan to have a singles event (speed dating)! Located at: 7731 Fay Ave (between Kline St & Silverado St) La Jolla, CA 92037 (858) 551-5000 Anthony - SIN NITECLUB

Say no to Aloha

Aloha Sushi is an over priced, under delicious place. They offer VIP booth, but you can only sit there if you order over $100. Althou spending a $100 at this just a few eye blinks away. Just say no to Aloha, their disrespectful hostesses and all

Jack's will be missed

Best wishes to Bill Berkley, one of the most kind and caring people I have met and to all of the employees. I am sure he did everything in his power to keep his doors open. Jack's was a great place and will be dearly missed.

SAY YES TO ALOHA!

Aloha Sushi Lounge is the best! I been going there for years. If you can't pay $100 for a party of 4 or 6 then you shouldn't be sitting in the cabanas! They never made you sit in the cabanas, you can sit in the patio or inside where you don't have to pay the $100. Their nightly special rocks! They have 1/2 off on Monday night, wednesday All-U-CAN-EAT for $28 that included all the rolls and some grille plate , you can't beat that, Thursday college night 1/2 on cocktails and buy 1 Roll get next one Free! Plus they have Happy Hours everyday! Before you say they are over price do your homework!
