An iconic restaurant and night club in San Diego – Jack’s La Jolla – has officially shut its doors after more than four years of successful business and positive reputation in the downtown La Jolla area.
Remembering Jack: The labyrinthine restaurant of endless nooks and graceful levels was also one of the community’s favorite locations to spend a lively evening. The Beach Bar was known to showcase steel drum music to energize the merrymaking. The mid-level Wall Street Bar also featured live music by night in a fine-dining environment. The Wine Bar Lounge at Jack’s Grille, though soothingly furnished with cool-toned tile and a radiant central fireplace, was animated each night with live entertainment in its piano bar. Despite the seemingly destined-for-success 17,000-sq.-ft. , three-level venue known for upscale nightlife and consistent fine dining, Jack’s La Jolla became victim to the down economy and, in conjunction with other internal issues, was forced to end its short but thrilling run in downtown La Jolla. Owner Bill Berkley released the news of closing to 120 employees and local media outlets on Thursday, July 30, 2009.
We are sad to hear of the Jack’s La Jolla closing – this three-story epicenter of fine dining and fun will be truly missed in the San Diego scene. Remember Jack’s with these party pics.
