Laid-Back Holiday Parties at Taverns & Bars

The taverns and stay-a-while bars are lighting up in their own ways for the holidays. The Verant Group runs some of the best joints in town, and this season, they’re singing “deck the halls” with a big swig of beer and finger-lickin’ grub to pair.

West Coast Tavern – North Park

A snazzy White Christmas event will take place at the beginning of December to nudge locals towards the holidays in a city that barely changes season. On December 4 from 7pm to close, enjoy beats by local DJs and $3 holiday drink specials. White attire is recommended. Mark your calendar; West Coast Tavern will also host a New Year’s Eve dinner featuring four courses with beer and wine pairings. Sandbar – Mission Beach

To celebrate this special time of year, Sandbar is putting their party pants on for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. While you’re anticipating the arrival of Ol’ St. Nick on December 24, sing it out at Sandbar with karaoke from 9am to close, $5 Skyy Redbull Vodkas and $3 bottles or pints. On Christmas Day from 9am to 2am, enjoy the famous ‘2 Banger’ for $6. And once you make it to New Year’s Eve, go big with a package that gets you $3 U-Call-Its, a $10 comp card valid anytime in January, a free glass of champagne at midnight, free breakfast on January 1 and fun party favors – all for $40.

barleymash – Downtown

barleymash goes glam on New Year’s Eve with their Gateway to Gold Party, celebrating from 9pm to close. The downtown corner-spot will light up with DJs spinning all night and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight. Pre-sale tickets for $25 and bottle service reservations can be made by contacting bri@barleymash.com. If you manage to make it through to New Year’s Day, you’ll be welcoming 2013 with a Survivor Brunch starting at 9am. Music by Sleeping Giant will keep the energy alive as guests grub late on dinner specials all night.

True North Tavern – North Park

New Year’s Eve gets the True North treatment on December 31, featuring resident DJ Wonderbread. Music spanning all genres will be paired with video on over 25+ widescreens from 9pm to close. At midnight, say hello to 2013 with a ball drop and complimentary champagne toast plus party favors for all guests. True North is bound to be packed, so arrive early to secure entry. Cover charge at 9pm will begin at $10 and increases $5 every hour until midnight.
