Lot 81: Posh Dining in San Diego

Published : 6/27/2007 by Christy Orgeta

At Lot 81, the color orange speaks to you. Orange daisies, orange seats, orange lanterns; the modern but friendly atmosphere sets the tone for this eatery and bar.

A delight to the eyes, the thoughtful layout of this San Diego restaurant makes customers feel right at home. Design connoisseurs will marvel at the orange, black, grey, and white geometric accents peppered throughout the establishment.

Complementing the bright wall trim at Lot 81 is the furniture. Those in the dining room are treated to a splash of color as white and orange dance around you in the form of tablecloths and chairs. Once seated, a single orange Gerber daisy greets you as you ponder your order. In the bar area, diners will revel in the white bar stools and intimate lounge seating. And while you wait for your drink, look down and notice the domino inspired design. With every detail, Lot 81 seeks to impress.

Because the look of the restaurant is such a treat, it’s easy to wonder if the taste does the décor justice. As a fine dining establishment with a fun menu, Lot 81 introduces offerings like fresh herb chicken breast with roasted veggies and seasoned rice and penne pasta served with Italian sausage and house sauce.

Feeling adventurous? Try out the shrimp fettuccini. Served with creamy jalapeno sauce, it’s sure to give your mouth a new experience.

Located right next door to Lot 81 is the famed neighborhood venue, Brick by Brick. If you’re looking for a snack with your show, Lot 81’s “Backstage Menu” delivers straight to the spotlight. Enjoy smaller offerings like stuffed jalapeno poppers and beer battered Mahi Mahi tacos to quell your hunger while getting your fill of music.

At Lot 81, patrons can kick back, eat a fun meal and soak in their surroundings.

Lot 81 Restaurant Review

Cool place, food was not up to par on my visit there. I'd give it another try as I did show up about 20 minutes before closing.

Where's the beef?

I went there the other day to have lunch with my friend, and there wasn't much traffic inside the restaurant. Their chicken in jalapeno sauce was dead on, though. And who doesn't love a place that serves Fat Tire beer?
