Harrah’s Rincon, Southern California’s only nationally branded resort and casino, decided to stray from the glittering slot machines and solemn poker tables to host their first indoor Farmer’s Market.
The casino’s central location in Valley Center makes a great meeting spot for local growers and artisans to showcase their wares and on May 14, merchants and buyers will be meeting in the hotel lobby from 10am to 4pm. As in most farmers markets, there will be sun-ripened fruit and vegetables for sale, brought to you by L.A. Specialty Foods. In addition, there will be specialty food items such as local honey from Kathleen Limas and Simply Bee Natural and olive, avocado, and grapeseed oils from Rick Towner. Fresh-out-of-the oven cupcakes, cookies, and whole pies will be provided by Harrah’s Rincon Bakery Team, along with caramel apples and cotton candy.
Many arts and crafts items will also be up for sale, from skillfully hand-crocheted baby clothes and vintage bags made by Sammy Scheid of Grandma’s Attic to unique jewelry made by Adrian Arango of Adrian Jewelry. As inspiration, Miriam Chor Fretas of Miriam’s Jewels will be conducting a jewelry making demonstration and selling her own imaginative creations.
For the home, there will be plants and succulents available from Tom and Cindy Krumholz, one-of-a-kind planters made from recycled grocery bags and milk cartons from Robin Belew, and chairs created from recycled wine barrels brought in by Planet Booth Design Haus. In keeping with the green theme, Harrah’s Rincon CODEGREEN Team will be providing free information regarding recycling and energy conservation.
While supporting local merchants and helping the environment, guests will also have the opportunity to sit down for a $1 per minute massage provided by the staff of the Spa at Harrah’s. And, the best thing about attending a farmer’s market at Harrah’s Rincon Casino and Resort is the opportunity to try your luck at a hand of blackjack after you finish your shopping.
Harrah’s Rincon is located at 33750 Valley Center Road in Valley Center. The farmers market will be open to all, but asks that visitors under the age of 21 be accompanied by an adult. Learn more at harrahsrincon.com.
