Just as the metropolitan landscape is constantly evolving, so are our favorite San Diego restaurants – switching up their flavah and offering new culinary specials and dining perks to keep up with foodie hot spots sprouting up around town.

From the expansion of local favorites to the new downtown breakfast spot, patriotic Fourth of July dining specials and a new TV star in Pacific Beach, discover the latest in San Diego dining.

Cucina Urbana: After only a month, the old Laurel is now the warm and cozy Cucina Urbana. The restaurant is self-described as a Californian inspired Italian Kitchen and Bistro, and the menu reflects that ideology with items from traditional Bruschetta to the Carlsbad Mussels that features both chorizo and tomato and basil. Talk about quick table turn-around!

Patriotic Palates: San Diego restaurants are taking the work out of your holiday barbeque feast. Head to Anthology, Red Marlin and Alchemy – or board the Hornblower Yacht – to sip All-American beers and cocktails, taste a bit of barbequed-everything, from cheeseburgers to Mexican beef brisket tacos, and a build-your-own cheesecake bar, with the best Jimmy Buffet tribute band in the backdrop. Details here.

Corvette Has Parked: The new (and huge) Corvette Diner & Gaming Garage has parked in its new Liberty Station location. Officially opened on June 22, the Diner is now twice as large as the original Hillcrest icon; occupying 13,000 sq.ft. and seating up to 300 guests. Details here. (pictured)

Get Lucky: Lucky D’s just got lucky with a complete re-design. The East Village bar and grill now boasts a sleek design and a new sophisticated boutique drink and food menu. Lucky D's is poised to be an oft-frequented downtown neighborhood destination with a refreshing "Everyone in" policy - no attitude, no strict dress code and a laid back rock 'n roll vibe. Get lucky at the Grand Opening party on Friday, June 26 from 8-11pm.

Runny Yolk!: Broken Yolk Café just opened a new location in the Gaslamp Quarter, with the official grand opening celebration on June 22. This soon-to-be downtown staple is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week … and open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday. Well played Broken Yolk! We think you’re going to kill it, and we’re looking forward to trying all 20+ omelet varieties as soon as possible. (pictured)

RT’s Deadly Catch: The bad-ass show The Deadliest Catch recently made a star out of Pacific Beach hangout RT’s Longboard Grill. During the second week in June, The Discovery Channel filmed After the Catch – a wrap-up show for the fifth season of The Deadliest Catch at the cleared out Longboard Grill From the ocean inspired décor to the surf culture atmosphere, this PB restaurant and bar proved a perfect catch for The Discovery Channel. Details here.

Burger Lounge Strikes Again: The mediocre Sushi Fix has closed, and the prime spot on India Street is now being revamped by Burger Lounge – the trendy burger shop taking over San Diego one block at a time. From La Jolla to Kensington, Coronado and now Little Italy, Burger Lounge boasts four delicious locations. The new Burger Lounge in Little Italy opens July 2009.

Crab Vs. Taco: According to The Fleetwood, Taco Tuesday is out and Crab Leg Tuesday is in. If you’re hungry for a change to your Tuesday routine, we think you’ll find your new Tuesday night favorite at The Fleetwood. Every Tuesday, Fleetwood offers All You Can Eat Snow Crab Legs served with corn on the cob, red mashed potatoes and warm French bread, all for just $24.95. Details here.

Wine With a View: Island Prime is hosting a summer Wine Seminar series, starting with Pinot Noirs around the world and ending with the Art of Food and Wine Pairing, taught by the restaurant’s Wine Director Maurice DiMarino. You’ve enjoyed flowing glasses of wine while overlooking the Coronado Bridge from Island Prime’s patio, and now it’s time to head back to the Island and get schooled. Details here.

Crescent Heights Closed: Chef McIntyre’s Crescent Heights Kitchen & Lounge has officially closed its downtown Broadway doors, after less than a year of business. The stunning venue, impressive menu and charming owners couldn’t compete with the tough location and even tougher economy. Re-live Crescent beginnings with Grand Opening event photos. Rumorville: North Park’s favorite upscale neighborhood eatery, Urban Solace, is rumored to be opening a new second location in North County San Diego. Known for such weekly events as Bluegass Brunch and delicious summer additions like Watermelon Salad, it’s no wonder this relatively new restaurant is quick to expand. We also hear the former Parallel 33 in Mission Hills will become The Red Door in July 2009.
