Published : 4/20/2009 by Lisa Wilson

Just as the metropolitan landscape in San Diego is constantly evolving, so are our favorite eateries – switching up their flavah and offering new menu selections, culinary specials and dining perks to keep up with foodie hot spots sprouting up around town. From the tried-and-true Old Spaghetti Factory and classic Mille Fleurs to the new kitchens on the block including the MerK and cool-as-ice Suite and Tender, check out the latest developments in San Diego dining.

The 25th Annual California Restaurant Association Gold Medallion Awards hit the Hilton on Tuesday, April 21. From cocktails and mingling to the live auction, dinner and awards ceremony, the CRA Gold Medallion Awards is the top dining industry event in San Diego. See CRA Awards photos here.

Alchemy: The South Park dining scene turns to gold with the arrival of the newest restaurant in town: Alchemy.

Mi Casa Taco Shop: Matt Spencer of DJhere, Firehouse and much more heard his favorite Pacific Beach taco shop was closing, so he bought it, tricked it out, and thus restored one of San Diego’s most beloved taco shops. micasatacoshop.com

Another new trendy taco shop, Funky Garcia's Mexican Eatery, is bringing Tijuana flavors and prices to the Gaslamp Quater. Go grab some street tacos for under $5 in an urban bar setting while the funky offer is still on the table.

Blind Lady Ale House: Opened in January, this urban eatery in Normal Heights serves organic salads and Neapolitan-style pizzas along with 20 taps pouring local, regional and rare Belgian brews hand selected by owner Lee Chase, world-renown beer consultant and former head brewer of local Stone Brewing Company.
