A long-standing icon of fine dining in La Jolla, Trattoria Acqua is continuing the 15 year celebration by rebranding the restaurant as Trattoria Acqua on the Cove. The new name comes with “back to the basics” comfort foods and an appropriately reduced price point.

Proprietor Michael McGeath and Executive Chef Damaso Lee have created some amazing dishes that keep with their tradition of organic, made to order comfort foods with 90 percent of the items under $20, a value that is hard to find at any other La Jolla restaurants. Something you may not know is, they consider their produce the hallmark of the restaurant, and that is evident in the new menu. Executive Chef Lee’s wife works for one of the top purveyors in San Diego and all the produce that comes into the restaurant is handpicked.

New menu items include:

Duck Salad – Duck confit salad with gorgonzola cheese, pears, frisee, watercress, spinach, sundried cherries and Dijon Mustard-shallot vinaigrette.

Mussels – Prince Edward Island black Mussels sauced with choice of Eel River beer, Italian bacon, shallots, red chili flakes, fresh tomatoes and Sonoma goat cheese or White wine, fresh herbs, Pernod and crème fraiche. This comes with a side of French fries.

Angry Shrimp Scampi – Spicy Black Tiger Shrimp sautéed “Scampi style” with a chipotle pepper & garlic/brandy reduction sauce with a touch of cream and served with “organic” summer vegetables.

Mongolian Pork Chop – Asian marinated grilled “Kurobota” pork chop served with brocollini, buttermilk whipped potatoes and red wine vinegar-mustard sauce

Rib Eye Steak – Marinated Black Angus “Ribeye” steak, pan seared and oven roasted, served with our house-made “Buttermilk” onion rings and a chipotle pepper sauce.

Trattoria Acqua is known for consistently delicious, affordable food in a warm and casual atmosphere. It’s the staple La Jolla restaurant where locals come to dine, unwind and spend time with family and friends. Since implementing the new menu, the response has been so positive that many guests have been returning several times a week to enjoy all the new selections.
