If ever there was a San Diego industry duo destined for a successful collaboration, it’s James Brennan and Brian Malarkey. While all signs point to easy victory, we have to wait to see for ourselves in spring 2010.
EnDev’s head honcho James Brennan and fan-favorite celebrity chef Brian Malarkey have joined forces to merge the best of San Diego nightlife and dining. The Brennan and Malarkey venture will be a neighborhood restaurant and lounge, housed in Z Gallerie’s Gaslamp location, which is closing in January 2010.
In San Diego, atmosphere is everything. Brennan and Malarkey recruited LA-based interior designer Thomas Schoos to craft a fun and sophisticated setting with an edge. Schoos has designed stunning spaces for successful restaurateurs in Las Vegas and Miami. Most notable design detail is Malarkey’s custom playground put on display to evoke the Top Chef experience. The restaurant will have a open kitchen paired with front row bar seating.
Though the menu is not finalized as of yet, Malarkey is said to be reinventing American cuisine with his signature unpredictable flair. Expect chic twists on classic American comfort food dishes.
2010 Update: The name has been released: Searsucker.
