San Diego’s New Salad Style

Published : 5/3/2007 by Kirsten Noelle Hubbard

San Diego welcomes a new era of fast food. Downtown San Diego's new salad Shoppe, Salad Style, introduces quick and healthy gourmet salads for busy San Diegans on the go. Salad Style, San Diego 's only salad Shoppe, offers all organic, gourmet summer salads in a "12 Step Program" full of hearty ingredients and colorful, seasonal additions.

Salad Style co-founders and chefs, Maryjo Testa and Scott Thomas, believe salads shouldn't be skimpy. The Italian-inspired cooking at Salad Style uses only the freshest ingredients, allowing a few simple flavors to shape a dish. New summer salads, such as the "Maryjo Chicken Caeser" and "Scott's Grilled Steak" boast robust chicken, mouth watering steak, ahi tuna, and salmon. Testa and Thomas also pair these premiere salads with organic, market sold vegetables. Other innovative dishes include Moroccan Couscous served over mixed greens, and The Morning Glory a breakfast blend of yogurt, fruit, and granola.

Salad Style is located in the bustling East Village area of San Diego. Maryjo Testa explains her dedication to healthy eating, "we want healthy eating to be easy to accomplish, and we really strive to make sure there is no excuse not to have a delectable and healthy meal. Life is busy, but that shouldn't be at the expense of yourhealth."

Insider Scoop: Salads ordered in the Downtown San Diego area can be ordered on Salad Style's website, and delivered for free. It truly is a new era in fast food dining in SanDiego.

Please oh Please come to La Jolla!

Would be really cool to have another healthy alternative here in La Jolla. There's only a few places where you can go and eat (quickly) and feel like you didn't blow your diet to hell.

Salads are only good with meat

Seriously. I'm on a diet too and I'm sick of eating the same crap over and over. I just can't be satisfied at other quick salad places. The steak salads and ahi tuna salads at Salad Style sound really appealing right now. I wonder how the Morning Glory salad here would compare to the fruit salad at Croutons?
