Searsucker's New Sunday Brunch Party

Every summer, we locals are faced with the same dilemma: we must appear incredibly svelte and toned for San Diego pool parties, but if we don’t eat, our sleek look will soon turn sloppy and downright scary after a few too many flutes of the bubbly. Lesson learned: no breakfast is always a bad call. But, when every precious calorie counts, what do we dare consume?

The all-you-can-eat pancake buffet is definitely out of the question. We need the strength of protein for daybed hopping, a touch of carbs for alcohol absorption, and enough strong cocktails to get us mentally prepared for stripping down to barely there bikinis and showing our beach bods to the who’s who of local industry. You see, San Diego Sunday brunch is no joke; if you choose the wrong pre-party, your whole Sunday Funday could go downhill real fast.

Thankfully, one of our favorite downtown San Diego restaurants now opens doors bright and early for the ultimate Sunday Brunch Party. Starting in May, Searsucker serves a flavor-packed brunch menu of unique shareable items, paired with handcrafted cocktails, flowing champagne, and upbeat music spun by top local DJs. You heard it here first; Searsucker is home to the hottest Sunday pre-party in San Diego. From local foodies dying to try Chef Brian Malarkey’s new creations, to local party-goers in search of a light bite and XL champy flute before skipping down to the Intervention madness, Searsucker invites everyone to come and see what the buzz is all about.

Now, before I clue you in to what ridiculous goodies are on this sexy new brunch menu, I must warn you: not everything is pre-pool party approved. The “Brunch with Brian” menu features the signature Egg Scramble with lobster, chorizo, Manchego, tomato, basil, and Mozzarella; the Cowboy with steak, eggs, potatoes, and horseradish-black pepper hollandaise; and the Bennysadick with Cajun mahi, chipotle, Bleu, oven-dried tomato, arugula, olive, crab, avocado, and lemon. More must-try items include Green Eggs and Ham with rustled egg, pork belly, brioche, and herbs (pictured); Earth Eggs with mushrooms, Brie, and truffle; and Bourbon Brown Butter Toast with blackberry, maple, and whipped cream. For the pool party-minded, share a dish with friends, or play it safe and order the tasty Granola with mango, passion fruit, and lime shortbread.

And now for the booze! Searsucker’s most dangerous morning cocktail is the new Bacon & Egg Bloody, made with vodka, pickled quail egg, and bacon. If you can’t handle that serious heat, enjoy a Man-mosa instead, with bourbon, blackberry, maple syrup, and champagne; or a Tooth of the Dog with prickly pear, tequila, and lime. Yep, the drink is actually called Tooth of the Dog. If you’re being a good little girl or boy and looking to hydrate before the big pool party, you’ll love Grapefruit Juice, Cranberry Juice or Blood Orange Tea.

Pre-Party in Style: Searsucker’s new Sunday Brunch Party goes down from 9am to 2pm every weekend. For more information, please call 877.351.8073 or visit Searsucker in San Diego.
