I don’t know about you, but brunch is my absolute favorite meal.
There’s something about sleeping in a tad too late and getting instantly rewarded with a host of delicious breakfast and lunch dishes paired with strong daytime cocktails that speaks directly to my heart. I've explored our city’s well-known brunch locales, and I am excited to announce the new “blunch” at Sessions Public.
Sessions Public, a local’s secret situated in the cool and calm Point Loma neighborhood, is a simplicity driven restaurant and bar serving farm to table fare made with sustainable food sources. Sessions is known as a go-to spot to come mingle with friends and enjoy craft beer and fine comfort food. New at Sessions this summer is blunch, the ideal mix of breakfast and lunch, served Fridays through Sundays starting at noon. The menu includes a bevy of breakfast items, sandwiches, shared plates, and salads.
For those still barely waking up, the Breakfast Burger may be just the ticket. The burger highlights a combination of farm fresh eggs, Winchester gouda, arugula, confit tomatoes, and garlic aioli. If you’ve got a sweet tooth as serious as mine, the homemade Belgian waffle topped with fresh berries and whipped cream may be the best choice.
For those leaning towards the lunch side of brunch, the Chicken Sandwich is an excellent choice. The sandwich is topped with a delicious chicken breast, crispy bacon, and Gruyere cheese. Meat lovers will rejoice at the option of Short Rib Sliders, topped with garlic aioli, pickled red onions, and arugula. Salads are available for the lighter appetite, with options such as the Spicy Cobb, a hearty salad filled with grilled shrimp, bacon, farm fresh eggs, avocados, and Sriracha. Another healthy option is the Farmers Market Salad, featuring only local and organic ingredients from Point Loma Farms.
Personally, I love to order a few things while dining out and then share them all, or not. Recommended shared plates include Crispy Chicken Oysters, Duck Confit Thai Summer Rolls, Crabcakes, Salt Wings, Nueske Bacon Lollipop, and Spicy Calamari. And, of course, no brunch is complete without a few drink specials. All local beers are 2 for 1 from open ‘til 6:19pm, and Moscow Mules are offered for $5.
