Grant Grill Hosts Mixology Dinner: Nuts & Berries


Many of the best San Diego restaurants host seasonal prix fixe dinners, most often offered with a selection of wine pairings to enhance the local flavor. During these dinners, it’s all about the haute culinary culture of the moment. But, in a unique moment when hand-crafted cocktails are all the local rage, why not put mixology at the forefront of the dining experience? When it comes down to it, wouldn’t we all rather drink our calories?


The US Grant Hotel’s Grant Grill, in all its elegant glory, encourages locals to explore all that the art of mixology has to offer – with or without some grub on the side. On August 27th, The Grant Grill will host a special mixology dinner featuring innovative cocktail pairings with a four-course tasting menu. That’s right, the tantalizing spirits come first, as they should. Who’s to thank? Grant Grill’s mixologist, and certified sommelier, Jeff Josenhans has worked closely with Chef Chris Kurth to create an in-sync and perfectly paired menu in honor of this season’s theme: Nuts & Berries.

First Course
Eat: Walnut Brown Butter Cake with roasted figs and pancetta
Drink: Walnut Rocks – Cap Rock Gin, Nux Alpina Walnut Liqueur, fresh Meyer lemon


Second Course
Eat: Duck Prosciutto with Marscapone gnocchi, toasted hazelnuts, glazed yellow peaches
Drink: Sterling Strawberry Daiquiri – JH Rum Agricole, strawberry consommé, Falernum, lime


Third Course
Eat: Smoked Venison Loim with a duo of creamed and Bloomsdale spinach
Drink: Rocky Mountain Blackberry – Death’s Door Wheat Gin, Leopolds Blackberry, house pressed blackberry, Angostura Bitters, fresh egg whites


Fourth Course
Eat: Chocolate Almond Tart with espresso mousse and crème fraiche ice cream
Drink: Cold Buttered Chestnut – Briottet Chestnut Liqueur, cold buttered Bulleit Bourbon, Frangelico foam


Drink Up! The Grant Grill at the historically chic US Grant Hotel hosts the Nuts & Berries mixology dinner on Friday, August 27th featuring four courses and four cocktails for $65 per person.
