Old Town Mexican Café in San Diego

Published : 4/28/2008 by Dan Tricarico

Celebrate a rousing Cinco de Mayo fiesta next week at the Old Town Mexican Café and Cantina, one of San Diego's most authentic Mexican restaurants.

Enjoy mariachis, food and beer specials, and a live DJ in the patio dining area. A beer and food garden will be open all day. For an added touch of cultural flavor, watch as the famed "Tortilla Ladies of Old Town" prepare over 7,000 corn and flour tortillas near the restaurant's giant picture window.

Famous for its signature carnitas dish, the Café also serves some of the tastiest combination plates in town, as well as such classics as quesadillas, nachos, and carne asada. House specialties also include Chile Colorado, Camarones (gulf shrimp grilled with butter sauce), and Enchiladas Rancheras. And nearly everything on the menu tastes better with one of their ice cold cervesas or frosty margaritas.

One of the most festive locales in Old Town for South of the Border cuisine, Old Town Mexican Café prides itself on using fresh ingredients and old-fashioned cooking methods from the early days of our city to prepare its dishes. Their success is obvious, as they won the San Diego Restaurant Association's Gold Medallion Award for Finest Mexican Restaurant an impressive five years in a row.

Old Town Mexican Café and Cantina also offers private party seating, valet parking, and off-site catering.
