Park Hyatt Aviara, a luxurious San Diego resort, is luring in locals with a seasonal culinary experience like no other on Saturday, September 24.
Park Hyatt Masters of Food & Wine is a high profile foodie event that will educate and entertain from morning ‘til night, treating guests to a local aquafarm tour, lunch and dinner, all in the company of Southern California’s gastronomic guides. As we fall into autumn, it’s essential to know what ingredients are in season, and more importantly, what West Coast wines will bring those unique flavors to life.
The day begins at 11am, when guests meet at Park Hyatt Aviara and are transported to nearby Carlsbad Aquafarms for an in-depth tour of their oysters, clams, mussels, abalone and Hawaiian Ogo seaweed facility. You will walk alongside Park Hyatt Aviara's Executive Chef, Pierre Albaladejo, who will lead the tour along with his high-end seafood purveyor. It’s a morning in the life of a chef, featuring a behind-the-scenes discussion on local farm-raised seafood. After all that hard work, you will relax and enjoy the fruits of your labor with an oyster and Sauvignon Blanc tasting. At 12:30pm, you will be treated to the main afternoon dish, a Mussels Eclade lunch at the acquafarm. Described as one of the world’s most distinctive styles of barbecuing, éclade consists of cooking mussels using a blazing pile of dry pine needles.
After lunch, you will return to the resort to lounge around the property, from the pristine golf course and full-service spa, to the many pools and relaxation areas. At 7pm, the Park Hyatt Masters of Food & Wine main event will draw you into Vivace, the resort's signature Italian restaurant. Termed a "Cal-Ital" winemaker dinner, guests will indulge in California-made wines from Italian varietals paired with Chef Jesse Paul's dishes from the Vivace menu. Mix, mingle, taste, ask questions, and learn about the distinct flavor and culture of Southern California.
Masters of Food & Wine: The three-hour tour, tasting and lunch at Carlsbad Aquafarm is priced at $145 per person. The Cal-Ital winemaker dinner at Vivace is priced at $185 per person. A combo package including both events is available for $300 per person. For more information and to reserve your spot, visit parkaviara.hyatt.com.
