Racetrack Inspired Menu at Trattoria Acqua in La Jolla

Published : 7/29/2009 by Rachel Newman

Where the surf meets the turf has become a remarkably popular spot for people of all ages to enjoy fine dining. However, with the growing popularity of the Del Mar Racetrack, there has clearly become an influx of patronage at Del Mar restaurants during racing season.

Trattoria Acqua noticed that during Del Mar’s track season, restaurants in the area were inundated, and that customers had to wait an exceedingly long time to be seated and fed at their venue of choice. To relieve the pressure on Del Mar restaurants, Michael and Victoria McGeath, owners of the quaint, local hot spot in La Jolla, have released a low-priced track season menu. Their hopes are to usher racetrack patrons south of Del Mar to the nearby Trattoria Acqua in downtown La Jolla.

Trattoria Acqua is a family run restaurant that features farm fresh comfort food, an award-winning wine list, and the feeling of being transported to the Italian Riviera. Besides being a local favorite in La Jolla, USA Today rated Trattoria Acqua as one of the Top-Ten Italian Restaurants in the United States.

The tastes of the newly released menu range deliciously from a sirloin steak to salmon stuffed with lobster meat to a traditionally homemade meatloaf. No item, though, brings home the taste of the racetrack like Trattoria Acqua’s Traditional French Bistro Style Mussels served with a side of Herbed French Fries which boasts La Jolla elegance while keeping with Del Mar's sporty nature.

All new menu items keep with the Trattoria Acqua’s reputation of presenting authentic home style Italian food in a Mediterranean setting at prices that don’t break the bank. All of this and customers still get a beautiful view of the ocean.
