The Prado and the Balboa Park Food & Wine School announce a special evening of fine food and wine with Rodney Strong’s own Rick Sayre this Thursday, April 24 at 6:30pm.
This San Diego wine dinner is the only west coast event that famed winemaker Rick Sayre will be attending – and you don’t want to miss out. The Prado Executive Chef Jeff Thurston has designed a four course dinner to pair with Sayre’s award-winning wines.
Guests will enjoy seared Kobe beef sushi rolls with braised hikiki, charred asparagus, and wasabi cream among other appetizers paired with the 2006 Estate Charlotte’s Home Sauvignon Blanc from Sonoma County during the reception. The first course brings a soup of roasted white corn with fresh tarragon and squash blossom with a 2006 Estate Chalk Hill Chardonnay from Sonoma County, followed by the salad of heirloom tomato, organic frisee, jumbo lump Maryland crab and balsamic reduction with a 2006 Estate Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley for the second course.
Thurston prepares a symmetry braised beef short rib with charred asparagus, roasted garlic, whipped potatoes, and a Maine lobster pot pie for the third course, to be paired with a 2004 Symmetry from the Alexander Valley Red Meritage. The fourth course dessert pairs the 2004 A True Gentleman’s Port from Sonoma County with a tasting of blue cheese with Point Reyes blue cheese crème brulee, triple cream gorgonzola, honey combe, and Humbolt fog with toasted ciabatta.
Tickets to the only Rick Sayre wine dinner on the west coast at San Diego’s very own Balboa Park Food & Wine School, in conjunction with The Prado, are $89.95 per person. Make your reservations at 619.557.9441 ext.203.
