San Diego's House of Blues may draw the big name shows to America's Finest City, but it also attracts a one-of-a-kind menu with a passion for the south.
A truly unique venue on the edge of downtown's Gaslamp District, this restaurant/bar/music hall on Fifth Avenue has a little something for everyone. Perfect for a work luncheon, a happy hour pint, or an after-hours meal, House of Blues celebrates folk art and blues music like no other San Diego venue.
Try out traditional southern favorites like Jambalaya and Pan-Seared Voodoo Shrimp or their local fare of seafood and veggie sandwiches. The artichoke dip is particularly popular among HOB fans, as well as the totally delectable catfish nuggets and sweet potato fries.
The biggest draw, aside from the live music you can often see play nightly for no extra cover, is their phenomenal happy hour. With $2 drafts, $3 wells, $4 martinis and a vast array of half-priced appetizers, their prices and insanely extensive list of signature drinks is incredibly hard to beat (Monday through Friday, 4-7pm).
If you're looking for a rare Sunday brunch experience, House of Blues is the place to be. Their weekly Sunday Gospel Brunch often sells out ahead of time, and with good reason. The energy in the music hall skyrockets when the gospel choir starts rocking out to familiar and joyous tunes. Join the buffet line as it leads past carving stations, cheese grits, Mediterranean Calamari and other traditional southern dishes for an additionally unforgettable experience.
Insider Tips: If you're dining in-house before seeing a show, let your server know. Patrons dining at the restaurant before a show in the music hall get early VIP entrance and a chance to grab one of the few seating options in a standing-room-only venue.
Also: There is no parking currently available at HOB. If you're there for a show, we suggest parking at Horton Plaza, getting your ticket validated in the mall, and avoiding the pay-per-hour lots around the area.
