Romantic Dining in San Diego’s French Countryside

Published : 5/1/2007 by Kirsten Noelle Hubbard

It is the dream of every true romantic to visit the French countryside with his or her special someone. Open fields, long windy roads; just you and yours. Those romantic dreams are realized at Rancho Santa Fe’s quaint French bistro, Mille Fleurs, a romantic dining retreat built for two.

There’s no longer a need to get away. Executive Chef Martin Wosele brings European delicacy to the table with comforting California ingredients. Mille Fleurs is nestled away in rural Rancho Santa Fe. But the restaurant’s charming courtyard, warm fireplace, elegant-yet-inviting décor, and excellent service seem to transport you to another time and place.

Wosele’s unique menu changes daily, ever-boasting the latest trends in gourmet French cuisine. A frequent dinner favorite is the Pistachio Crusted Halibut, served with white corn and orange-ginger sauce. Pair with a Macon-Lugny Chardonnay to complete your local French getaway.

Saucy

I actually tried the halibut not to long ago. That white corn and orange ginger sauce is absolutely delightful. I wouldn't mind taking my girlfriend there again, both she and I really liked the atmosphere. I just wish it wasn't such a drive away from my place!
