Say Goodbye to RT's Longboard Grill Now

Posted On : 1/25/2013 by Keli Dailey

After all the eating tournaments, the random Pacific Beach hookups, the “The Deadliest Catch” wrap-up shows, the Man-Mosas and fried cod tacos…after almost 15 years the open-air beachy bar RT's Longboard Grill is closing.

Named after Ron Trenton, a lifeguard and pilot whose plane disappeared on a return trip from Catalina Island, Longboard Grill has been a laid-back jewel for twentysomethings on Garnet. Opened by Trenton’s brothers in 1999, it’s currently in escrow, and in the process of transferring its liquor license to the potential buyer.

For now the surfboard décor’s still up. A manager there said on Thursday, Jan. 31 there’s sort of a reunion for ex-employees that’s open to the public--After 7 p.m. it’s your standard $4 you-call-its and burgers before the kitchen closes.

Longboard's TVs will still be glowing on Super Bowl Sunday, and for perhaps a month more, the manager said.

RT's Longboard Grill, 1466 Garnet Ave. Pacific Beach. 858-270-4030 or longboardgrill.com
