On April 26, 2009 the quirky Corvette Diner closed its doors after 22 years of retro rock n’ roll fun in Hillcrest.

But don’t worry, this Fifth Avenue favorite isn’t shutting down, but merely moving to set-up shop at a new, more expansive home at Liberty Station in Point Loma.

The beehive hairdos, fishnet stockings, Bazooka bubble gum, and Elvis and Marilyn memorabilia will also be moving to Liberty Station, adorning the new venue with the same nostalgic pieces of the past.

The classic diner will be revamped with twice the space, making room for a 5,000 square-foot arcade, seating for 242 guests, private dining rooms, and a full bar. Though Cohn Restaurant Group co-owner, Lesley Cohn, has not released further details about the relocation, Corvette Diner is expected to open its Liberty Station doors sometime in June.

Aside from the expanded setting for flashy new toys, a major attraction factor isthe diner’s free parking at Liberty Station, so you can save the change for the vintage arcade games waiting inside.

From birthday parties to family outings, Corvette Diner in Hillcrest was a staple dining spot for locals while growing up in San Diego. Say your tearful goodbye to the Hillcrest location and get ready for a new glamorous diner and new memories to make in Point Loma.
