San Diego Restaurant Pick of the Week: Phil's BBQ in Point Loma

Posted On : 7/17/2007 by Regina Benedetti

Discover the San Diego restaurant pick of the week from Phil's BBQ in Point Loma.

Phil's BBQ has been one of San Diego's most beloved destinations for outstanding barbeque for years. The original location in Mission Hills built a faithful following of clientele. And as Phil's success increasingly grew, a larger location was a necessary business investment. In early 2007 Phil's BBQ moved from Mission Hills to the new location on Sports Arena Boulevard, and now serves over 25% more guests. So what's the catch? What makes Phil's such an irresistible dining destination?
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Phil Pace grew up surrounded by the restaurant business and family style southern barbeque. After years in the restaurant industry, Phil decided to move to San Diego for retirement. But as expected, Phil's passion for fine barbequing inspired him back into the business. Built on passion, Phil's is one of San Diego's best selling restaurants.

Discover the top item at Phil's BBQ: the baby back pork ribs. This illustrious portion of ribs is smothered in a signature barbeque sauce that keeps customers begging for more. The meat comes from one of two organic California farms. This meal can be accompanied by one or two sides; freshly made coleslaw, a baked potato, steamed vegetables, an ear of corn, onion rings, or the world famous fries.

Every option is made with superior quality and bathed in signature barbeque sauce. Even when a long line runs out the door, your food will come quickly and you'll enjoy an irresistible serving of top-notch barbeque.

The staff is working hard to adjust to a new location, serving even more customers than before while continuing to create exceptional meals that can't be mimicked at home.

Phil's BBQ employee, Ibtissem Fikri insists, "Come try, you'll like it--a lot," she continues, "I've been working here eight years and you'd think I'd get tired of the food, but I have it every day and it's still so good!"

Indulge this summer at Phil's BBQ, the top barbeque restaurant in San Diego.

i <3 phils

i was kind of apprehensive at first about phil's move to point loma-- would it have the same feel? the cramped space? the wooden tables? the potent scent of bbq sauce and smoke running throughout mission hills? luckily, it was :) i took my boyfriend there on sunday and boy was it crowded-- just the phil's i remember! insider tip: if you go to phil's bbq, order through the phone before driving over! you'll save yourself the 15-20 minute wait for your food :)
