Taste of Adams Avenue invites your taste buds to travel east and discover the best Normal Heights restaurants.
From the classic Bleu Boheme to the award-winning Kensington Grill, brand new Blind Lady Ale House and Burger Lounge – the burger shop taking over San Diego one neighborhood at a time – these eateries are making a name for the previously under-the-radar avenue where Kensington meets Normal Heights.
On Sunday, June 28 from 11am – 3pm the Adams Avenue Business Association will host the 9th Annual Taste of Adams Avenue featuring a variety of flavors from over 25 restaurants. Tickets are $25 in advance – buy tickets.
While the goal of the event is to hit all participating restaurants, here are some spots we recommend you don’t miss.
Bleu Boheme: This charming French bistro is set apart by its countryside atmosphere; from the chalkboard menu that lines the walls to the wooden wine racks reaching up to the ceiling, Bleu exudes warmth and nostalgia, not to mention a huge menu of rich delicacies. 4090 Adams Avenue
Kensington Grill: Chef Hanis Cavin recently took home Chef of the Year at the 2009 California Restaurant Association Gold Medallion Awards. Kensington Grill is a hip eatery frequented by neighborhood locals for upscale casual dining. Signature dinner items include Seafood Saffron Pappardelle, Braised Short Rib and Wild Game Meatloaf. 4055 Adams Avenue (pictured)
Jayne’s Gastropub: Not your average pub, Jayne’s serves juicy burgers and a petite yet unique menu featuring such signature items Lamb Shepherd’s Pie, Pecan Crusted Albacore Tuna, and Butterscotch Crème Brulee for dessert. The British term “gastropub” means an eatery that’s a step above a pub. 4677 30th Street – at Adams Avenue
Blind Lady Ale House: New to the neighborhood, Blind Lady Ale House serves organic salads and pizzas and carries a huge selection of craft beers on tap. All craft beer lovers must make a visit to Blind Lady. 3416 Adams Avenue
