Stick with Cohn Creations for San Diego Restaurant Week

Published : 9/2/2009 by Michelle Guerin

The late summer run of San Diego Restaurant Week is one of our favorite times of the year. With so many great restaurants to choose from, our dinner schedule tends to fill up fast. If you need some guidance as to what restaurants to try, it’s always a safe bet to stick with Cohn creations.

The Cohn Restaurant Group is the backbone of the San Diego dining scene, boasting 11 of the top local restaurants all under one county-wide roof. Discover our three picks for San Diego Restaurant Week with Cohn creations.

The Prado – Balboa Park
A warm spirited and diverse crowd meets a truly eclectic atmosphere for lunch and dinner throughout the week. Majestic, historic charm and an innovative menu selection allure fine diners while technicolor excitement and garden patio comfort speak to families and tourists in the park plaza. Executive Chef Jeff Thurston creates a renowned menu that communicates classic San Diego with a multicultural flair.

SDRW Menu Spotlight: Achiote Marinated Mahi Mahi – salad of ruby grapefruit, summer melon and shaved jicima, tossed in cilantro-lime vinaigrette with tequila nectar

The Prado offers a special $30 three-course menu.

Indigo Grill – Little Italy

Remarkably innovative , Chef Deborah Scott’s Indigo Grill takes native cuisine to a whole different level. Instead of concentrating on one region, Indigo fuses indigenous dishes spanning the continent, from Alaska to Oaxaca. The rich-hued interior is a merging of symbols from these countless cultures, like totem poles and Indian hieroglyphics. But it’s in the entrees where the real originality sparks.

SDRW Menu Spotlight: Hickory & Apple Smoked Pork Ribs – morita-kahlua glaze, Indian corn pudding, shaved pear and walnut salad, with cilantro vinaigrette

Indigo Grill offers a special $30 three-course menu.

Corvette Diner – Point Loma
San Diego's original rock-n-roll joint with 1950s décor, classic diner dishes, and gum-smacking, bouffant-haired waitresses pulled up its 22 year-old Hillcrest roots and cruised to new digs in Historic Liberty Station in summer of 2009. A visit to Corvette Diner is the closest thing to a time warp you’ll ever experience, and is perfect for the whole family.

SDRW Menu Spotlight: The Dee Dee Burger – American cheeseburger in paradise with lettuce, tomato and mayo on toasted sourdough bread, served with fries

Corvette Diner offers a special $20 three-course menu.
