Summer Margaritas at El Vitral

Posted On : 6/15/2011 by Kseniya Bublikova

El Vitral, one of our favorite East Village restaurants and tequila lounges, knows that there’s nothing like sipping a perfectly crafted margarita on a long summer day. While already known for their fine tequila selection and use of fresh squeezed juice and puree, El Vitral now takes it one step further with the introduction of a new summer drink menu showcasing connoisseur-status margaritas.

New margaritas include beauties such as the Green-Go: a craft cocktail made with blanco tequila, cucumber, serrano pepper, cilantro, agave nectar, fresh tomatillo juice, and lime juice. Or perhaps a Velvet Charro will spark your curiosity: an intriguing blend of blanco tequila, guava, sugar cane liquor, and a champagne float.

Other new margaritas include the Oaxacan Passion with passion fruit and orange juice, the San Diago featuring watermelon and basil, or the Prickle me Pink with prickly pear and lime juice.

In addition to new drinks, this Mexican eatery also announced new items on the authentic dinner menu, including Salmon al Pastor (salmon with annatto marinade, cilantro rice, and pickled onion), and the Tamal de Huitlacoche (corn masa tamale with corn truffle, rajas, and crema fresco).

Located just steps from PETCO Park, El Vitral is a perfect place to sip drinks or indulge in Mexican fare before or after catching a Padres game. Forget the usual hamburger or beer spot, and treat yourself to something a bit more exotic at the restaurant which took home the 2011 Gold Medallion for Best Mexican Restaurant in San Diego.

Drink Up: El Vitral is open Monday-Thursday from 5pm to 10pm, Friday from 5pm to 12 am, Saturday from 11am to 12am, and Sunday from 11am to 10pm. Join them for Hora Feliza (aka Happy Hour) daily from 5 to 7pm for further drink and food specials, including treats such as Ceviche de Mahi Mahi or the Avician blanco tequila cocktail for only $5.  For more information and reservations, visit El Vitral in San Diego.
