The Linkery Fills Apertivo Void With Spanish-Baja Flavor

We’re very sad to see that Apertivo in North Park has officially closed its doors in fall 2009. We’ll miss their delicious, quality Italian food that was always made by hand and made fresh to order.

But, in a San Diego neighborhood as explosive as North Park, that intimate and popular space should only stay vacant for a short time. In fact, the brains behind The Linkery have already signed the lease to develop a second dining project in thriving North Park.

As posted on The Linkery’s blog, the vision for the new space is: “to open a restaurant which is straightforward, stylish, and high quality. The current direction we’re headed for this new enterprise: California-Spanish-Baja small plates, craft beer, fine wine, with an emphasis on dishes and drinks that offer high quality at a price which isn’t too much above the mass-market products. We want to keep it simple, fun, and delicious. We’ll still be farm-to-table, because that’s the only way we want to live, and to eat.”

The Linkery’s new, unnamed restaurant is slated to open in summer 2010, if all projects go as planned. While we wait, let’s re-discover what we love about the original.

The Linkery in North Park is a fresh take on the neighborhood restaurant that honors the farm to table code. It is here that natural meat products, local greens, and real ale bring people from all walks of life together in a casual, fun dining setting surrounded by local artwork. The Linkery highlights local produce, seafood, olive oil and cheese; strives to procure the finest ingredients, artisanal foods, beer and wine that they can find in the world and offer them in simple, delicious hand-made dishes.

We can’t want to see what The Linkery brews up!
