The Restaurant at The Pearl Hotel in Point Loma

Published : 4/21/2008 by Dan Tricarico

Combining the cool cosmopolitan retro look of the late '60s with ultra-modern conveniences like wireless internet, 42" TVs, and state of the art music players, The Pearl Hotel in Point Loma offers the best in casual sophistication in each of its guestrooms.

This restored motel is also home to The Restaurant at The Pearl, one of the newest Point Loma restaurants for intimate dining, cocktails and conversation, and rousing nightlife.

Executive Chef Trey Hartinger presents rustic California cuisine that emphasizes local flavors with all organic ingredients. Appetizers include Candied Pork Belly, Bread Fondue, and Chicken Wings. Some of the more popular dinner selections are the Grass-fed Ribeye, Moules Frittes aux Stone Porter (mussels), and fresh daily pasta. Every Monday through Friday, The Restaurant at The Pearl also hosts its unique 3-4-5 Happy Hour ($3 beer, $4 well drinks, $5 wine). Additionally, the wine list represents over 15 countries and 30 different regions.

The indoor/outdoor layout of the restaurant lends guests several options for dining including at the bar, in the lounge, and by the pool. The hotel has also hosted such special events as arts benefits auctions, wine tastings, and even ping pong tournaments. And finally, don't miss "Dive-in Theater," free weekly screenings of a wide array of films on their giant screen that sits adjacent to the restaurant and hovers above the vintage, oyster-shaped pool.

If you feel a craving to get in touch with your inner Austin Powers, check out The Restaurant at The Pearl Hotel for a special event or modern meal amid a vintage backdrop. Valet parking is $5, but street parking is always available.

Insider Tip: Party a little too hard? Check out The Pearl's "Play and Stay" program, which offers special room rates for available rooms after midnight.
