For Goodness Sake: Japan Tsunami Relief Fundraiser at Zenbu

Posted On : 3/16/2011 by Ryan Eisenacher

On Friday, March 11th, Japan was hit by one of the largest and devastating earthquakes recorded in history. The magnitude 8.9 quake propagated a deadly tsunami that slammed into the shore of the nation's east coast, leaving a huge swath of devastation in its wake.

As of today, the official death toll was raised to over 3,600 individuals, with nearly half a million people now homeless and living in shelters. Unfortunately, the shelters have become overwhelmed by the mass of people, which in turn has caused a lack of running water and an abundance of food shortages.

More than 90 nations have now offered aid and at least $59 million in donations have poured in, however, the damage has been estimated to be around $200 billion. In light of the heartbreaking tragedy that that has ravaged Japan, Zenbu Sushi of San Diego has elected to throw a fundraising event that will help aid the hundreds of thousands of individuals who have been affected by the detrimental catastrophe.

With its lavish atmosphere and one-of-a-kind sushi bar, Zenbu (meaning “all” in Japanese) offers San Diego locals superlative Asian cuisine that rolls oceanic and environmental sustainability into one. On Wednesday, March 16th, at Zenbu in Cardiff and Thursday, March 17th at Zenbu in La Jolla, both restaurants will be hosting the charity event 'For Goodness Sake', which will raise funds for Tsunami relief in Japan.

Diners will be invited to enjoy “all” the staple offerings that Zenbu has to offer including an ample selection of fresh seafood, specialty salads and wood-fired steaks. And don’t forget about broad scope of delectable sushi dishes such as the Lily Alexandra and Zenbu Rolls while creating delectable new rolls like the Pill Box, made with spicy crab, tuna, shrimp and avocado with a drizzle of garlic ponzu; and the Eel Communication, made with shrimp tempura, spicy crab and tuna, freshwater eel, avocado, sweet chili and drizzled with eel sauce.

Do Your Part: To help with the Tsunami relief effort in Japan, text 'REDCROSS" to 90999 to make a $10 donation today and help families in need. For more information, please visit Zenbu in Cardiff and Zenbu in La Jolla.
