A truly unique shopping concept, Aesthetyx in Leucadia offers North County customers a cool combination of home, life and leisure products. Charles and Judy Compton created this company in 2004 with the shared passion for entrepreneurship, travel and ethnic cuisine. Having traveled around the retail world and all over the globe, Judy became acquainted with many talented artists along the way.
After visiting the art scene in San Miguel, she realized that there were amazing artists that could barely afford to feed their families. With this in mind, the Comptons created a business model that not only brings the most eclectic home furnishings and decorative accessories from around the world, but also supports artists by marketing their products as well as improving their living conditions and quality of life by giving back to their communities.
This becomes a possibility by buying directly from the artists or through organizations such as Aid to Artisans and Barro Sin Plomo, a nonprofit organization in Mexico that helps pottery artists market their work to United States buyers. Ultimately, the goal of Aesthetyx goal is to return a percentage of its profits to the countries where the merchandise is created.
Representing around twenty artists from around the world, most from Central Mexico, Aesthetyx carries unique gifts, home décor, accessories and fashion from around the world. With items ranging from Milagros artwork from Morelia and Michoacan in Mexico, rustic clay pottery from Guadalajara, rosewood furniture from India and handcrafted timber candles from Thailand, almost everything is one-of-a-kind. Also included are beautiful handbags by Alejandra 'Alexis' Robledo David of Guadalajara - Jalisco, Mexico that are engraved by hand and lined in leather.
