American Apparel: Back to the Basics

Published : 12/14/2006 by Bridget Eade

We’ve all heard of the infamous little black dress that a woman should never be without. But what about the basic white tee? White not your color? Well, you won’t be low on selection when you enter American Apparel. In fact, you’ll be amazed (and even somewhat overwhelmed) when you’re greeted by every color, cut and size in every item you could ever need. Whether you come in looking for a plain t-shirt or a shiny gold bikini, American Apparel has got all of you covered. Racks leading up to the ceiling display basic shirts, athletic wear, and even tube socks in every color. You might realize that sometimes, less really is more.

But American Apparel is one of the most innovate stores to date. Not only do they market their own merchandise, they don’t outsource. They do everything up to the cutting and sewing themselves. Also, our tree-hugging friends down at American Apparel are environmental friendly. Their duds are made from strictly certified organic cotton, and they have plans to further integrate sustainable cotton within the upcoming years. What could be better than a company that is 100% friendly to everybody  – whether you happen to be a human being or a soft fiber that grows from a plant?

mhmm

LOVE aa and the fact they're all about the DIY. By far one of my fave stores =] hot ads too!

American Apparel

It's great to hear that American Apparel takes their business--and everyone else's--seriously by not outsourcing and being part of the entire construction process. It's not my typical style, but I always rely on American Apparel for basics, especially now that I know how conscious the company is.

i heard a rumor..

i heard a bad rumor than american apparel's "downtown LA-made clothes" are no longer being made in America... i smell a sell-out. anyone know if that's true?
