Shop Here: Local Black Friday Sales

Oh, Black Friday. The day that many savvy shoppers believe to be the true meaning of Thanksgiving. Did the pilgrims and Indians wake up at 3am to stand in line and their local Plymouth boutique? Maybe not. But we still give thanks to the retailers every year with this traditional act of shopping mayhem.

Each year seems to get more extreme, and 2011 is no different. While Black Friday will open up many stores at the midnight hour, we’ll also be seeing more local stores participating in Small Business Saturday to drive shoppers to local merchants, and Cyber Monday which thankfully encourages us to shop within the comfort of our own homes.

Even if you’re not a fan of the long lines and crowded aisles, Black Friday at least serves as a motivation to move around after eating your weight in turkey and potatoes. And who knows, you just might find a deal you can’t refuse. From San Diego malls to San Diego boutiques, steals and deals will be abundant as you take on Black Friday.

Mimi and Red

Celebrate the holiday with some massive savings after a massive dinner. The Black Friday Sale on Friday, Nov. 25th will have clothing from 40-75% off, and $5 damaged clothing steals. As part of the American Express Small Business Saturday series, guests can also shop at Mimi and Red during regular hours on Nov. 26th, opening at 10am in Birdrock and 11am in North Park. Mimi and Red houses many trend-setting designers including BB Dakota (pictured), Charlie Jade, Betsey Johnson, Kersh, Nashelle and Nixon. For more information, please visit Mimi and Red.

This thread has great information on shopping. A friend of mine told me about this cool app that allows you to get instant feedback from your Facebook friends on whether you should buy something or not (for themselves or as a gift). Here's the link - I think the app is coming out around Black Friday but you can sign up now: www.leapcommerce.com
