Stylish local ladies are going to be thigh-slapping happy to hear about the new boutique, Beech.
Now on the roster of La Jolla boutiques, Beech is funky, frisky and fabulous with a selection that includes capes, colorful frocks, mini dresses, unique hats and headbands, colored denim, splattered paint, fur vests, blazers with shoulder emphasis and tons of accessories. While in Beech, I get the feeling that I have teleported into a famous fashionista’s walk-in closet that receives shipments of new styles every Friday.
Beyond the trendsetting Los Angeles merchandise, Beech also has locally designed jewelry, art and incredible customer service. “We are the nicest people on the block,” says the store manager, Macy. “Sometimes people just come to hang out with us.” I am sure the feisty store atmosphere helps. Paintings of Barbie and Betty Page decorate the interiors, weird wigs adorn the mannequins, the colorful walls pop and props like TAB sodas sit around the shop, taunting to you to hang out and try on some clothes.
Soon to be bringing in even more foot traffic is the custom painting of shoes. You can pick up a pair of pre-painted sneakers, or bring in your own converse and have an image of your choosing painted before your eyes.
Another difference from the usual shops of this wealthy beach town, Beech is not only fashion forward and fun, but inexpensive to boot. This makes for a clientele that ranges from those on the hunt for gifts to women ages fourteen to forty looking to add a little excitement to their wardrobe.
