With the Sex and the City movie coming out late May of 2008, us ladies can't help but get excited about dare devil fashion. Costumes designed by Patricia Field, each outfit in the movie will make incredible fashion statements, but where do we find such styles in San Diego?
If you want the real deal, you will have to hit Fashion Valley Mall and stop into Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Carolina Herrera, and Bloomingdales. For instance, Saks Fifth Avenue currently has Sarah Jessica Parkers's Black Dior cutout platform sandals for pre order, if you're prepared to drop $800 on shoes. If that's a little out of your range, you can easily re-create the look of Sex and the City without the highest-end designers.
The boutique Neighbourhood in University Heights has a ton of the bold colors and prints that embrace the Sex and the City look, and these boutique fashions cost far less then Dolce and Gabana. Neighborhood also carries Anzen Vino and Florence, a brand that focuses on clothing with such cutting edge shapes that Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) is known for.
Another option is JEP Boutique in La Jolla. This shop specializes in fashion forward dresses by the likes of 3.1 Phillip Lim and LAMB that you could easily picture on both Kim Catrall and Cynthia Nixon. JEP also provides a small selection of "Sexy" shoes that makes up in fashion quality what it lacks in quantity.
Of course Sex and the City wouldn't be what it is today without shoes, so I must mention another source to pick some City-esque pairs. Stephanie's Shoes in La Jolla is a fabulous place to stop by and browse the BCBG and Oh... Deer brand heels. These á la mode shoes are necessary to give your outfit the kick it needs to be as hot as the Sex foursome.
After you pick out your high-fashion outfit on a local budget, mark your calendar for the official San Diego Sex and the City party at Stingaree on May 30, 2008.
