San Diego boutiques are an essential tool for creating a unique wardrobe.
Where malls are pushing mass produced items that everyone is wearing, a boutique often has brands you’ve never heard of and items you’ve never seen. For a woman, finding these boutiques are as easy as walking out her front door. For a man, it’s like looking for a contact lens in grass. Fortunately though, Solana Beach now introduces a new cool shop for San Diego men called HIS.
When I first walked in I was actually quite shocked. HIS is for a real guy. It is rare to see something for the average fella by the average fella. Not a beach bum or urban wannabe, not some ritzy gentleman, not a stereotype boy and not a plaid pimp. HIS is for a San Diego guy with a clean masculine style. I want to date the man that shops in this store.
Classic, modern, comfortable and laidback with a twist would describe the clothing and ambiance. Professional surf photography dresses the walls in large wooden frames while contemporary light fixtures hang from the ceiling. The industrial walls and floors are furnished with ancient wooden tables along with a cozy bench that screams today, but will stay in style through tomorrow. Old football and baseball mitts lie around the split level shop and besides the red car door on one wall there isn’t much else except three rugs that look like something a guy would take from his parent’s house. A manly gesture indeed.
As for the merch, HIS provides you with Level jeans (pictured), going-out shirts and an incredible collection of t-shirts that range from San Diego sports affiliation to a whale smoking a cigarette. Plain, but exceptionally soft tees are towards the front of the boutique while a military inspired jacket and a cozy zip-up hang near the back. HIS also has Hawaiian shirts and a shelf of straw fedora hats. Watches, skin care and sunglasses are then topped off with clean cut sweats that would actually look good on a man sitting on the couch as well as out in public.
HIS in Solana Beach is where a man can be a man with style.
